Everyone can make a difference. By changing the way you use energy in your home, you can save money and help the environment. If we do nothing, there will be serious consequences for our future. Benefits include:
• cheaper energy bills
• less greenhouse gas emissions
• better use of our natural Resources.

Even a seemingly small rise in global temperatures will have huge consequences for our future. Other potential consequences include:

• More hot days
• Less rain
• More bushfires
• Less snow
• Threatened natural environment
• Shifting coastlines
• Higher insurance
• Declining health

Making changes in your household can change our future. Energy efficiency is the easiest way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions at home

• Fridge uses the most electricity of any appliance in the house. If you have an extra fridge or freezer that you only use for special occasions, switch it off until you need it. Defrost your fridge / freezer regularly - they will work more efficiently. Make sure the door closes properly.

• Replace conventional incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescent light globes which consume 80% lesser energy.

Switch off unwanted lights and open curtains to allow daylight into rooms.

• Avoid standby modes in all your electrical appliances. Switch it off completely when not in use.

• Start using solar Heaters instead of conventional heaters.

• Always purchase appliances which are power saving. Know the energy saving capacity by the BEE seal- Bureau of Energy, rated from 1 star to 5 stars. Appliances rated 5 star are highly energy efficient.
Other measures which would decrease greenhouse emissions include
• Avoid using plastic and paper bags. Switch over to reusable bags.
• Minimize the consumption of Use and Throw articles.

• Segregate waste at home and try to recycle as much as possible.

• Use both sides of paper.

• Minimize purchasing of materials with too much, unwanted packing. Write to the company about it.

• Encourage your family members, friends and relatives to follow these energy saving measures.
These simple initiatives which we take would reduce global warming and make this world greener.
